Church news from Madison, Mukwonago and Tomahawk
Community Congregational Church of Lone Rock – I was unable to make contact with Pastor Craig Peach. Please pray for God to continue to bless Pastor Craig and his flock.
Heritage Congregational Church of Madison – they are excited about their 50th anniversary to be celebrated in 2018; Michael Chittum will be a speaker on their actual anniversary date of May 12, 2018. They are seeing the Snack Pack (which Pastor Cindy talked about at the Leadership Summit) mission expanding and reaching into the local community; recently 3 church members took a mission trip to Happy Life Children’s Home in Africa and came back with a challenge to raise funds for an industrial washing machine that the school really needed. Their financial challenge was met in ONE Sunday! The giving response was huge and the Children’s Home will be greatly blessed by the generosity of Heritage Church.
First Congregational Church of Mukwonago – Pastor Kevin’s best takeaway from the Leadership Summit was Tim Robert’s idea to intentionally train up leaders in the church. He liked this idea and checked with his Council leaders, asking if any had ever received any formal leadership training. Their responses surprised him! FCC’s Council meets once a month and Pastor Kevin now spends the first 15 minutes of each meeting providing leadership training to the council leadership group.
First Congregational Church of Tomahawk – they recently had their membership status reinstated, under the sponsorship of Pastor Carol Taylor (United Church of Beloit). Pastor John Miskimen was happy to share about their top two fundraisers that are held each year, and also provide a great ministry of reaching into the community with love and fellowship. The first is a hamburger/hot dog/ice cream stand under a tent next to the church on the 4th of July – the parade route goes right by the church! The second event is in September and provides “Famous Church Chili” for the local Harley Davidson gathering held in Tomahawk annually.
